How do we grow in faith when facing challenges? We grow in faith by believing God will do what He has promised.
When we enter recovery, we’re facing a monumental task. We’re much like David, facing the daunting task of defeating Goliath. However, like David, we have to trust that God will sustain us and ultimately lead us to victory. Without unwavering faith, we will fail.
Faith is essential in developing and sustaining our relationship with God. To grow in faith, we must consistently seek God. No matter how hard our recovery journey may become, we have to trust that God will protect and guide us over all obstacles and through every storm.
In recovery, unwavering faith is crucial.
Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith is the foundation upon which your relationship with Him is built. A sincere and steadfast belief in God’s existence and character is the starting point of faith. It’s also the best place to begin when entering recovery.
Surrender is vital to recovery. That requires acknowledging that God does indeed exist. This acknowledgment cannot be grounded in intellect or science. It has to be grounded in faith, becoming a deeply held conviction that shapes and guides your actions and decisions. You must actively pursue God, remaining steadfast in your conviction that He is there and has “called you out of the darkness and into His wonderful light,” 1 Peter 2:9.
Unwavering faith is the anchor of your recovery journey.
Seeking and knowing God is the only way to lasting peace.
You’ve undoubtedly wrestled with suffering, tried to make sense of it in the context of faith, and have likely allowed fear to keep you from seeking help. In surrender, you’ll come to know God intimately. In His presence, you’ll find peace. Peace that goes beyond your limited understanding.
Being obedient and faithful to God doesn’t mean you’ll always understand or get the answers you think you deserve. It means you’ll be at peace regardless of what’s happening around you. That’s the beauty of unwavering faith — it grants you completeness, wholeness, and peace, enabling you to prosper in recovery no matter what lies before you.
In recovery you’ll face your Goliath. But, like David, with unwavering faithfulness, you will prevail.
Growing faith when facing challenges.
How do you grow your faith when facing the ups and downs of recovery? You grow in faith by staying convinced that God will do what He’s promised. As you trust day in and day out that He’s faithful, He shows Himself faithful. He fulfills His promises. Thus, you grow stronger with each passing day, and God receives the glory.
God is faithful and just in all His ways. His faithfulness and justice are values for you to emulate. Allow them to guide your actions and decisions daily. Remain faithful in every aspect of your recovery journey, and God will bless you and prepare you for greater responsibilities and greater success in the future. Unwavering faith is not based on outward circumstances, but on a deep and unshakeable trust in God’s character and faithfulness.

Trusting my life
and purpose to Him.
Dear Lord, fill my heart,
this day, as I move.
Guide all my steps.
Draw me closer to You.
Give me the courage
to go where You lead.
Knowing that You will
fulfill every need.
Anchor my soul
to Your Spirit and Truth.
So my words and my actions
bring honor to You.
Clothe me in Justice.
Shield me with Your Grace.
For Yours is the glory,
in the battles I face.
Remove every barrier
that stands in between,
Your perfect plan
and divine will for me.
Humble me, Lord,
to obey Your commands,
to seek You and know You,
with all that I am.
Unwavering Faith
is where I begin.
Trusting my life
and purpose to Him.
Unshakable faith
that withstands every storm.
Steadfast and unyielding,
made new every morn.
