ADDICTION IS THE BATTLE; RECOVERY IS THE MIRACLE

If you’re struggling with addiction, there are two things you need to know: Recovery is a miracle, and Addiction is a battle you’ll never win without God.

Addiction destroys. Nothing is spared. Not relationships, minds, bodies, spirits, or lives. Indeed, they’re nothing more than casualties in the war.

If you’re reading this and are lost in addiction, you know the monster you’re facing and how high the cost is. You know the darkness because you live in it. I don’t need to describe it or tell you I’ve been there. But, you do need to know this: Your addiction will continue to control you as long as you allow it, and that path leads to only one ending — Your addiction will win. When it does, your story ends, and with it your chance to choose a different path.

The choice is yours; it always has been.

What will it take for you to realize that? I don’t know. It’s different for each of us. The real question is this: Will the realization come while you still have time to make a different choice, or will it come as you take your last breath?

That’s the crossroads you face. The same one we all do. Consequently, no one else can choose for you.

However, I can tell you with absolute certainty that addiction is a battle you can’t win without God. The moment you’re ready to choose recovery, ready to surrender, God will be there. The moment you choose Him, the miracle begins.

Recovery is a Miracle (Recovery Prayer)

Recovery is a miracle.

You can reach for it today.

The grace you need to start the climb,

will fill you as you pray.

Lord, I am a sinner,

lost in the darkness of deceit.

My eyes and heart are blinded.

My soul bent in defeat.

I can no longer shoulder,

The burden of my shame,

And so, on bended knee I cry,

for healing in Your Name.

I surrender, Lord, my darkness.

I surrender my disgrace.

I give you all my brokenness.

Wrap me in Your grace.

Fill me with Your light, Lord.

Take everything I am.

Restore me to the fullness of,

The Promise of the Lamb.

Open my closed eyes, Lord,

to Your purpose and Your will.

Place in me a longing

to let go and just be still.

Open my closed heart, Lord.

Help me surrender all I am.

For I know that You are faithful.

You meet me where I stand.

Remove all that is keeping me,

from giving all to You.

And fill me with Your Spirit, Lord,

so that I abide with You.

Lord, I am a sinner,

unworthy as I kneel,

But I know that when You say the words,

My broken soul will heal.

Recovery is a miracle.

You can reach for it today.

His grace awaits; His love transforms.

Don’t be afraid to pray.

Relinquish all your fear and doubt.

Reach for His peace instead.

For He already paid the price.

He conquered sin and death.

Don’t waste this gift, this miracle.

Walk through Salvation’s door.

Be still and trust He’s waiting there.

He’ll guide you to the shore.

Cling to His faithful promise.

Let go of all your fear.

For He alone will raise you up,

and give you strength to persevere.
