I released my first book, Four Weeks, in September of 2018. Then, a few weeks later, Hurricane Michael devastated the Florida Panhandle, where we live. I was barely six months into my recovery journey at that time. Had I allowed it, this very real storm might have dragged me back into the darkness. God, as He had promised, remained at my side. He provided the grace and strength I needed to care for myself, our family, and community. The fortress He wrapped around me reinforced forever His promise to never stop fighting for me.

The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.

Exodus 14:14

Out of the devastation of Hurricane Michael came In the Eye of the Storm and In the Aftermath of the Storm. Both books were a community effort. So many survivors of that fateful day contributed their stories, images, poetry, and artwork. Together, we created something beautiful and lasting out of the devastation. Sales from both books helped generate funds for the recovery effort.

I am grateful to all who contributed. These books will forever hold a special place in my heart. Because, in the writing and editing of them, God once again reminded me of His faithfulness.

Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10
