Scripture inspires many of the poems and verses I write. Thus, as each year comes to a close, I create a devotional calendar filled with poetry and images from my cousin, Gary, a talented nature photographer. Each month features a beautiful image, along with the Scripture verse that inspired the poem. I’ve been giving them as gifts to friends and family for years.
The Gifts of the Spirit are the focus of this year’s devotion.
God gave us the Holy Spirit to guide and protect us.
The gifts we receive from the Holy Spirit vary from person to person. However, they come from the same source: the Spirit of God that dwells within us.
Therefore, we’re not to use them selfishly or for personal gain. Instead, we’re to use them to serve others, to bear witness to the reality of the Gospel, and to advance the kingdom of God on earth.
My Prayer
Lord, may we strive daily to use our spiritual gifts to bring glory and honor to You, to be Your hands and feet, and to proclaim our faith in Your goodness in all we say and do. Also, may we seek to do Your will, turn away from sin, and, with humble and obedient hearts, follow where You lead us. Amen.
