SHIFTING SAND

I spent so many years trying to build contentment and peace on shifting sands.

My foundation crumbled again and again.

Sand could never bear the weight of my sin.

Only the Rock.

Matthew 7:24

So much of my life

built on shifting sand,

dragged by the tides,

and buffeting wind.

Tossed on the rocks,

of a stormy sea,

no firm ground,

to anchor me.

Image of a crumbling house built on shifting sand.

Lost in the chaos,

clinging to shame,

nowhere to go,

to escape all the pain.

I turned to the bottle.

Sought perfection instead.

Ran countless miles,

weak and underfed.

The battle was endless.

One I could not win.

Until the day I looked up

and reached out for Him.

Image of Jesus reaching down to grasp a woman's hands.

He met me with grace,

When I deserved none.

Said that for me,

He’d sent His own Son.

To a sinner unworthy,

His mercy flowed,

granting me comfort

I’d never known.

He pointed me to

the gift of His word,

the anchor I needed,

to weather the storm.

Image of open Bible with the words Exodus 14:14.

The first verse I read,

promised me He would fight,

every battle before me,

from that very first night.

He stood beside me,

on the Rock of Ages,

filled my whole being,

with the Truth on those pages.

The sands that once shifted,

became the foundation,

The Rock that led me to

The gift of salvation.
