Christ destroyed the middle wall of separation on the cross. Why then do we keep trying to rebuild it?
The middle wall of separation
was broken down by Christ.
And still we toil to build our own,
With bricks so deep and high.
One brick filled with hatred.
One filled with contempt.
Another bears our judgement,
and blatant discontent.
Why do we work so fervently,
to widen this divide,
When Christ Himself came to unite,
All peoples and all tribes?

He walked among the sinners,
Broke bread with those condemned.
Welcomed all to hear His words,
and taught us to forgive.
We have been brought near to God,
by the blood of Jesus Christ,
who tore down every brick we laid,
with His pure sacrifice.

May we seek to walk the path,
He walked with perfect grace.
May we see in all we meet,
our Savior’s loving face.
Help us, LORD, to look for You,
in every one we meet.
Guide us in forgiveness, LORD,
To offer them Your peace.
May the wall of separation,
You destroyed upon the cross,
become the door to unity,
in every one of us.
Amen.
