God is our fortress, shield, and hiding place. He watches over our coming and going, both now and forever.
God is our refuge and shield. He provides for our needs and for our safety. From worldly dangers to spiritual ones, He offers His strength and peace without fail, though we often forget He’s there. Psalm 121 is a promise of God’s constant presence and protection in our lives.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.He will not let your foot slip—
He who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, He who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.The Lord will keep you from all harm—
He will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
God’s protection is more than simply the promise of safety.
God’s protection over us is a divine gift. It encompasses His constant watchfulness, our eternal security, and the preservation of our souls.
God promises to preserve us from evil and harm, though that doesn’t mean we won’t face trials in this life. What it does mean is that He will be with us and will bring good out of our struggles. God’s care extends to every area of our lives, today and into eternity. His promise covers our physical and spiritual well-being. Which means that He preserves the very essence of who we are, our souls, even when physical challenges befall us.
Prayer is our pathway to God’s presence.
There are over 300 instances in Scripture where God tells us to “Fear not.” Still, we often find ourselves succumbing to the fears and doubts inherent in the world.
Praying for protection is powerful. It quiets our fears and demonstrates our faith and trust that God will indeed deliver us. Psalm 91 assures us that God answers when we call.
There is peace in the presence of God. He wants us to seek Him, to abide in the shelter of His wings, rest in the safety and security of His promise, and thirst for the salvation found in Jesus Christ, His Son.
May we turn to Him in times of trouble and in times of joy, seeking His divine presence and protection, trusting in His faithfulness, and relying on His strength to shelter us this day and forever more. AMEN.
A Prayer for God’s Safety and Protection
Wrap us in Your SAFETY, LORD.
SHELTER us from harm.
Send Your SPIRIT to GUIDE our steps,
with each new coming dawn.
Wrap us in Your SAFETY, LORD.
Let ANGELS light our way,
as we work to HONOR You,
in all we do and say.
Wrap us in Your SAFETY, LORD.
In the FORTRESS of Your wings.
For great is Your FAITHFULNESS,
in the manner of all things.
Wrap us in Your SAFETY, LORD.
Move our hands and feet,
to share Your GOSPEL with the world,
with every soul we meet.
Wrap us in Your SAFETY, LORD.
In the MERCY of Your GRACE.
STRENGTHEN our desire, LORD,
and PATIENCE as we wait,
for Your HAND to GUIDE us in
the direction of Your KINGDOM.
Remind us, LORD, that You alone
are the GOD of all CREATION.
AMEN.
