STEADFAST IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

In one sentence, Hosea 10:12 explains Israel’s entire burden: They’ve been living off the harvest of their own sin. Yet, the LORD calls them to repent so that judgment might be turned to mercy.

To remain steadfast in righteousness, we must first sow righteousness.

The words “sow” and “reap” are used throughout Scripture to convey the moral and spiritual principle that we will eventually reap the natural consequences of our choices, actions, and character.

If we do what is right and good, we receive God’s steadfast love and righteousness in return.

But our hearts must remain open.

We must approach the Throne of Grace with urgency, seeking God’s mercy with true humility and a desire to repent and surrender.

When we wait on the steadfast love of the LORD, He blesses us with righteousness and grace.

A poem inspired by Hosea 10:12.

LORD, You are my comfort,

The provider of my rest.

My anchor in a world,

That’s often filled with tests.

Weakening my resolve,

filling me with doubt,

burdening my spirit,

obscuring my way out.

And yet, LORD, You remain,

Steadfast in righteousness.

Ensuring that I’m covered,

secured in holiness.

Help me to lay down,

my burdens and my fear.

Trusting that Your presence

and peace are always near.

You make a way before me.

You lead me to the well,

where Living Water flows,

so that I may drink my fill.

With mercy You beseech me,

To follow where You lead.

Trusting that Your kindness

and Your Spirit cover me.

Guide me to the stillness,

that calls me to stand down.

To the place Your steadfast love

and righteousness are found.

Amen.
