In Christ, we’re called to forgive as we’re forgiven.
In other words, God doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve.
Instead, He’s slow to anger.
Moreover, He holds back the judgment and punishment our sins warrant.
Since God’s love for us is as vast as the universe He created, He casts our sins as far as the east is from the west.
Unlike the north and the south, the east and the west never meet or intersect.
Likewise, our guilt is permanently erased the moment we choose to believe.
A poem inspired by Psalm 103:9-12.

Heavenly Father,
grant me Your compassion.
Help me to forgive,
as I have been forgiven.
You do not treat me,
as my sins deserve.
Instead, You lead me,
to the fountain of Your Word.
Where mercy lives,
and peace flows unrelenting.
You cover me,
and forgive all my offenses.

Your faithful love,
abides in hearts that fear You,
turning my anger
into grace that serves You.
Your mercy flows,
Though I am undeserving.
You fill my heart,
with truth and understanding.
As far from me,
as the east is to the west,
You cast my sins,
And grant me peace and rest.

Heavenly Father,
Grant me Your compassion.
Teach me to forgive,
As I have been forgiven.
Amen.
