OUR FAITH NEEDS PREPARATION

If you were going to run a marathon, you wouldn’t just lace up your shoes one morning and hope for the best. You’d spend weeks or months preparing so that when race day came, you were ready.

I’ve trained for marathons. I completed an ultramarathon. The preparation was intense.

My body and mind had to be conditioned for everything I was asking of them.

Disciplined running schedule. A disciplined diet. Months of preparation.

Our faith requires preparation too.

Preparation rooted in God’s Word.

God calls us to spend time in His Word, not just so we can know more, but so that when opportunities come to encourage someone, answer a question, share the truth, or point someone toward Jesus, we’re ready.

Our Faith needs preparation,

Rooted in God’s Word.

Armed with Truth and Wisdom,

We overcome the world.

The race we run is daunting,

with tests along the way,

meant to make us stumble,

and turn our hearts away. 

The Word of God stands firmly,

through every generation.

A Light that keeps us steady,

In every situation.

God’s commands are there to guide us,

to strengthen our resolve,

preparing us to lead the lost,

through the power of His words.

Breathed by the Holy Spirit,

The Word of God our shield,

the armor that protects us,

our fortress when we yield,

surrendering our desires,

trusting in His grace,

to lead us to the moment,

We meet Him face to face.

Our Faith needs preparation,

Rooted in God’s Word.

The Rock that remains constant,

In this ever-changing world.
