OUR HOLY GUARDIAN

Our Guardian Angel is a gift of divine protection from our Heavenly Father. They do more than guard us; they instruct, guide, and protect us in every aspect of our lives.

Psalm 91, often referred to as the Psalm of Protection, assures us that God’s care for us is personal. That He’s active in our lives, directing our steps and protecting us against the pitfalls of this world. He has personally directed our Guardian Angels to defend us.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely He will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His feathers,
    and under His wings you will find refuge;
    His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
For He will command His angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges My name.
He will call on Me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
    and show Him My salvation.”

Guardian of All Our Ways

“To guard you in all your ways” is a sacred and divine promise.

The protection we receive from our Guardian Angel covers the entirety of our life’s journey. From the moment of our birth to our last breath, our Guardian Angel intercedes on our behalf, guarding our physical, spiritual, and emotional lives. They’re given authority and victory over direct threats, spiritual dangers, and the devil himself.

Faith assures us that we don’t have to see God to know His protection is there.

Believe without Seeing

Even though we cannot physically see God, He sees us. His mighty works are evident all around us. His care for us goes beyond anything we can imagine with our limited human understanding.

God is with us and in us. We’re on His mind and in His works so much so that He commands His angels to guard us (Psalm 91:11). We can rest securely in His shadow (Psalm 91:1). We don’t need to fear the terror of the night (Psalm 91:5) because we’re safe in our dwelling place with Him (Psalm 91:9).

Psalm 91 is a Promise

In verses 14-16, God speaks His divine protection into life. He promises rescue for those who love Him. Vows to answer our prayers during times of trouble, provide us with honor, reward us with long life, and grant us salvation.

Psalm 91 is not a guarantee that we won’t face trials and hardships in this life. For even God’s own Son was given up for the salvation of many (Romans 8:32).

What God does promise is that if we love Him and trust in His wisdom and power, He will protect us from all things that could destroy us. So that even if “the arrow that flies by day” strikes us where we stand, we’re not defeated. We’re more than conquerors through Him who loves us (Romans 8:37).

Our Holy Guardian

You sent an Angel to guard us,

to keep us safe from harm.

A gift bestowed upon us

the day that we are born.

To watch over and to guide us,

from the pitfalls of this world.

To point us to the Light of Truth,

found in Your sacred Word.

To lead us to the Mercy,

offered in Salvation.

To establish us as chosen,

over all of Your creation.

Guardian Angel stand beside us,

protect us night and day,

shelter us in safety,

and wisdom as we pray. 

May Your Holy Presence guard us,

and inspire us from within,

to turn from all temptation,

and the darkness of all sin.

Thank you, God, for this loving gift,

You bless us with each day,

to light and guide,

to rule and guard,

all that we do and say.
