Are we a lost generation led by souls wandering in the wilderness of selfish desire instead of God’s mercy and love?
Scripture directs us to pray for the lost, of whom we are one. As the world draws farther and farther away from God, prayer has the power to draw us back to Him and to His Word. Here are two simple prayers asking God to draw us near, open our hearts and minds to Jesus, reveal His holy presence, and guide us in truth.
Prayer for a Lost Generation

Are we a lost generation?
Too blinded by our own desires,
to seek the MERCY of SALVATION?
Have we lost our ability to SEE?
Choosing the pitfalls of the world,
instead of Your LIGHT and PEACE?
Are we a lost generation?
Unwilling to receive the saving GRACE,
of the AUTHOR of CREATION?
Turn our hearts from the world, LORD.
Open our closed eyes to YOU.
Fill us with Your SPIRIT, LORD,
and the FREEDOM found in TRUTH.
Are we a lost generation?
Temper our desires, LORD.
Guide our thoughts and actions,
toward the PROMISE of the CROSS,
and the POWER of REDEMPTION.
Return us to the FULLNESS, LORD,
of the LIFE found in Your SON.
Place in us a longing, LORD,
that Your HOLY WILL be done.
Grant us Your unfailing STRENGTH.
Turn us from SIN and TEMPTATION.
Give us the COURAGE that we need,
to reach this lost generation.
AMEN.

Prayer for the Leaders of the World

For the leaders of the world, LORD,
I pray for Your WISDOM,
Guide them in the direction,
of Your KINGDOM,
Grant them COMPASSION,
fill them with GRACE,
Help them to lead,
in Your HOLY NAME.
Lend them Your MERCY,
and FORGIVENESS that heals.
The KNOWLEDGE and desire,
to choose Your WILL.
Guide their words, LORD,
temper their actions,
according to Your WORD,
and the promise of HEAVEN.
Humble their spirits, LORD,
to seek Your GOODNESS,
so that all they do,
GLORIFIES Your PRESENCE.
Protect them and keep them,
from danger and harm.
Remind them that You are,
their LIGHT in each storm.
Fill their hearts, LORD,
with the gift of Your SPIRIT,
so that every decision,
embodies Your NEARNESS.
Strengthen their hearts, LORD,
and increase their FAITH,
so that JUSTICE and TRUTH,
guide all of their days.
AMEN.

May these prayers offer comfort and remind us that God is with us and that His faithfulness lasts for generations. May we become a people devoted to Christ’s teaching and fellowship and to the breaking of bread and prayers (Acts 2:42). Amen.

I’m JN Fenwick.
Wife, mom, but more importantly, a recovering alcoholic with a grateful heart. For years, I struggled, not just with alcohol, but with an eating disorder and the burdens of guilt and shame. On March 22, 2018, I surrendered my life to Christ. I was 51. God did not forsake me. He welcomed me, as undeserving as I am. He did not see my brokenness. Instead, He saw my potential. My Recovery Journey is one of Faith. From the ashes of my failures, God built a fire in me. A fire that guides each step I take. My journey is yours. My healing can be yours, too. God is a mighty warrior. You can take comfort in the promise that the Lord will fight for you and grant you peace.
