LIGHT THAT NEVER DIMS

Into the darkness of a lost world, the light came. Not as a king bearing a crown of gold, but as a servant who’d bear the sins of all mankind.

Jesus Christ is the living revelation of God’s divine light in the world. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life,” (John 8:12).

Light announced His birth as a brilliant star in the heavens above Bethlehem. The same star guided the wisemen from the east to where He dwelled.

Light descended upon Him at His baptism, surrounded Him at His transfiguration, and radiated from Him after His resurrection.

When light shines, darkness flees.

Light that restores.

John 9:1-41 tells the story of a man blind from birth. All he’d ever known was darkness. Every day, he sat in that darkness, relying on the kindness of strangers. Then Jesus came.

Seeing the blind man begging by the roadside, the disciples wanted to know whose sin, his own or his parents’, had rendered the man blind.

Christ answered, “Neither. This happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Then, Jesus spat on the ground, making a paste out of mud, and placed it on the blind man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (meaning “Sent”).

So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. Eyes that once knew only darkness could now see clearly the glory of God in Jesus.

Without the light of Christ, we stumble in the darkness, blind to our true condition.

Light that reveals.

The light of Christ reveals who God is and who we are.

Through Christ, God’s presence, truth, and goodness are revealed to the world. Light cannot coexist with darkness just as God’s holiness cannot coexist with sin.

When the pure light of Christ shines on sinful deeds, it reveals their true nature: “All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed,” (John 3:20).

Christ’s light exposes sin so it can be forgiven and reveals truth so it can be known.

Light that transforms.

The light of Christ brings hope. Just as sunlight brings forth the dawn, the light of Christ brings forth transformation. It guides us, allowing us to see clearly and to move forward with confidence.

The light of Christ directs us to walk in truth, equipping us to discern God’s will, while protecting us from stumbling along the path He’s laid before us.

It is the light of life, of truth, and of salvation.

It’s a Light that Never Dims

Light that never dims.

Truth that came to save.

Death could not contain Him,

or hold Him in the grave.

Grace that never falters.

Peace that offers rest,

hung upon a cross,

wrapped in Holiness.

The world misunderstood,

the nature of His Kingdom.

That through His sacrifice,

mankind received redemption.

The weak reach for His mercy,

the lost long for His touch,

to feel the healing power,

of His abiding love.

Hearts once lost in darkness,

find refuge in His Word.

Through Him all men are offered,

freedom from the world.

Light that never dims.

Truth that came to save.

Conquered sin and death,

arising from the grave.

Oh, blessed be our Savior,

who came to sacrifice,

everything He is,

to give us Peace and Life.
