FREE INDEED

The Good News in Christ, “If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed,” John 8:36.

Jesus is the only way to freedom. His death and resurrection freed us from the bondage of sin and death. Belief in Christ and adherence to His teachings lead to true freedom. The Good News is this: Through Christ, we are free indeed.

What does it mean to be free in Christ?

Freedom in Christ is not a temporary thing.

It’s not a partial thing.

Rather, it’s permanent, total, and a gift.

Freedom from sin.

Jesus’ sacrifice broke the chains of sin that once bound us, setting us free from the consequence of sin, which is death.

Freedom from the law.

Before Christ, we were enslaved by the law, bound by rigorous obedience to its rules. Rules that stipulated full adherence to attain salvation.

Jesus paid our debt by dying for us, thereby liberating us from the old law and forging a new path to salvation through Him.

Through Christ, we’re set free from the law.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

— Galatians 5:1-3

Freedom from the past.

We’re no longer defined by our past. As children of God, we’re free from condemnation.

Freedom from works.

We’re free from the mindset that we earn righteousness through our own works, rather than through faith in Christ.

Freedom in Christ requires us to live for Christ.

Before His Ascension into Heaven, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide, direct, and empower us.

To live lives of holiness that are pleasing to God.

Free from the hindrance of sin.

To choose what is right.

In obedience to His purpose.

Serving others in love.

In accordance with His Word.

For His glory.

Amen.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

The Good News

Today, 

I share with you the GOOD NEWS,

THAT JESUS CAME TO SAVE,

sinners, just like you and I,

from the darkness of the grave.

He didn’t come here to condemn us,

or to cast our souls aside.

He came to gather all the lost,

and in our place to die.

He suffered on the cross that day,

so all men could be free,

from the bondages of sin and death,

to offer us ETERNITY.

It doesn’t matter that we’ve fallen,

or turned our backs on Him.

With open arms, He welcomes,

and invites all sinners in.

The moment we believe,

He IS the promised One,

the Savior of the world,

and God’s beloved Son.

Is the moment that His grace,

fills our brokenness,

healing us with mercy,

granting peace and pest.

“Go, and sin no more.”

The purpose we are given,

the moment we’re washed clean,

in the ocean of forgiveness.

All we were before,

cleansed by the rising tide,

that restores us to the fullness,

of God’s PRESENCE and NEW LIFE.

You’ve but to call His Name,

humbly reach for Him.

SURRENDER all you carry,

place your TRUST in Him.

He will not forsake you.

He’ll stand firmly in between,

the darkness and your soul,

and by His Might you’ll win,

Every battle that you’re facing,

armed with TRUTH and LIGHT.

He’ll give you all you need,

to succeed in every fight.

Today, 

I offer you the GOOD NEWS,

THAT JESUS CAME FOR YOU,

to save your soul from darkness,

to offer you THE TRUTH.

THE TRUTH that comes with KNOWING,

that grants you lasting PEACE.

THE TRUTH that overcomes the world,

and sets all captives FREE.
