A GRATEFUL HEART

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him,” Colossians 3:17.

As Christians, we must live lives that stand out. That means we must consistently evaluate our words and actions to ensure they’re aligned with our faith and that they bring honor to God. In a world filled with distractions and false teachings, our focus must remain on Christ, who taught us to be humble and to always acknowledge the source of our blessings with a grateful heart.

God’s kingdom cannot be shaken.

The world is fickle, filled with distractions and temptation. The only way to overcome the world is to approach the throne of grace with a humble, obedient, and grateful heart.

We cannot serve the Lord and the world.

We have to choose. That requires humility — something we must also choose for ourselves. That can be hard. Humility requires us to think of ourselves less so that we think of God more.

Which is the exact opposite of what the world tells us.

The world says, “focus on self,” “put your needs first,” and “go after what you want.” In the world, living a self-centered life is applauded.

Living a God-centered life is disregarded.

Living a God-centered life requires a shift in focus.

Living a God-centered life requires us to shift our focus away from the world and to place it on the world to come. It also means our focus must shift from our wants and needs to God’s will and purpose for our lives. We cannot do that without humbling our hearts, minds, and will to God.

It’s only through God’s Spirit within us that we’re able to live lives that are pleasing to Him and that serve His kingdom. To truly serve God, our faith and trust in Him must shape every aspect of our lives.

We must begin each day with a grateful heart.

A GRATEFUL HEART

Thank You, Lord,

for this beautiful day,

for the life in my body,

and the breath in my lungs.

May all I think and say and do

glorify Your Name,

and Your Kingdom to come.

Guide me, Lord,

to fulfill Your will.

To seek Your Presence,

and Your Purpose for me.

Use my life, my hands, and feet,

to proclaim Your goodness,

and Your unfailing Peace.

Give me strength

to stay the course,

to focus on Your perfect will.

Inspire me with Your merciful Grace,

to let go of this world,

and to just be still.

Send Your Spirit

to guide me through

the storms of this life,

trusting all things to You.

Quiet my fears, Lord,

and increase my Faith.

So I Honor You,

with each breath that I take.

Thank You, Lord,

for the gift of this day,

for the blessings and miracles

that show me the way.

Humble my heart, Lord,

my failures forgive,

so that all that You are

fills every day that I live.

Amen.
