WHEN YOU GO THROUGH ROUGH WATERS

As a nation, we’re going through deep waters. They are rough and churning, but He is with us in the storm.

Evil exists. There’s no doubt. It preys upon the weak and the willing. It uses every tool to manipulate, sow fear and doubt, create chaos, and destroy. Its ultimate goal is the eternal separation of every soul from the Kingdom of God.

Evil is manipulative, self-serving, and hell-bent on destroying our souls. Why? Because evil will never experience the beauty of eternal life. Thus, in its jealousy and hatred, it preys on us, seeking to separate us from God, and from the mercy and redemption it will never have.

The waters are rough, but the Spirit of God within us is far more powerful than any storm.

I know this to be true. God pulled me from the deep waters of addiction and an eating disorder that dominated my life for decades. He met me where I was. He covered my shame with His mercy and grace. My sin was great. His love for me is greater.

The rough waters we’re facing as a Nation are no different than those we face as individuals. The power to overcome them does not come from us, but from the Lord, who lives, breathes, and moves within us. We have to be willing to surrender, willing to trust, and willing to follow before we’ll ever reach the shore. That takes courage and faith. Moreover, it requires that we deny ourselves—that we relinquish our desires and place the entirety of our beings in God’s hands.

That’s the only way I survived—not by my hand, but His. It’s the only way our Nation will survive, “If my people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land,” Chronicles | 7:14.

It’s only through our obedience and faithfulness that we’ll experience the blessings of the Lord and exist in unity with the Spirit and with each other.

The rough waters we face are not because God has forsaken us, but because we have turned our backs on Him.

The entirety of creation is an extension of God’s perfect love. God did not create evil. Satan’s fall from grace brought evil into the world. In the same way, Adam and Eve’s original sin brought sin into the world.

Though evil and sin are not God’s creation, our free will is. Free will allows for the possibility of evil, for the possibility that we will choose to worship something other than God at the center of our lives. That we will choose ourselves over Him.

God knew the waters would be rough. He knew we’d flounder and fail. Still, He provided for our salvation because we are His children and He doesn’t want to lose even one of us.

God did not abandon us to our fate. Instead, He sent us a Savior. JESUS IS THE LIVING WORD OF GOD. His entire life and ministry were the fulfillment of God’s plan. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” John | 3:16.

Through His suffering and death, Jesus bore the sins of mankind. Through His resurrection, He conquered the eternal death that came into the world through Satan’s fall from grace.

“You are My children,
I’ve shown you the way,
out of the darkness,
do not be dismayed.
Trust in My mercy,
My Kingdom awaits,
on the Rock of Salvation,
I’ve placed at your feet.
I will not forsake you,
or leave you to drown,
in the perilous depths,
of the oncoming storm.
My strength is sufficient,
for all you must do,
to vanquish the forces,
now threatening you.
For, you are My people,
stand firm in your Faith,
relinquish your burdens,
emerge from the waves.
With My light to guide you,
eyes fixed on the Son,
there’s no evil among you,
you can’t overcome.”

MY PRAYER.

Dear Lord, we know evil and temptation exist in this world. We’ll face hardships and experience moments of doubt. In the world, we’ll face injustice and witness corruption, depravity, and wickedness. We’ll be tempted by power, self-gratification, and desire. We’ll go through deep, rough waters again and again. Yet, You remain faithful. You wait patiently for us to turn to You. You never abandoned us. Instead, You bless us with Your mercy, empower us with Your Word, and defend us against every enemy. Your Word is our weapon of victory. Help us as individuals, as a Nation to grasp it tightly in our hands and our hearts. Grant us the humility and more importantly the desire to be obedient and faithful. To turn away from all things that seek to separate us from You and to trust fully in Your purpose, promise, and power. In Your holy name, we pray, Amen.
