JUST A WHISPER

Just a whisper from the King of Kings is more powerful than any force in Heaven or on Earth—just a whisper.

Of all possibilities, the Lord chooses a gentle whisper to Elijah to present Himself. Not a great fire, wind, or earthquake, which He has the absolute power to do. But a gentle whisper.

“The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave, 1 Kings 19:11-13.

He calms all fears,

all grief,

all pain,

strengthens every heart.

With just a whisper,

the Heavens call His name,

the thunderous seas will part.

There is no storm,

no enemy,

no barrier,

He cannot overcome.

With just a whisper,

from the King of Kings,

His mighty works are done.

Just a whisper,

from the King of Kings,

is mightier than every sword,

the enemy can swing.

Just a soft word,

breathed from our Savior’s lips,

topples every barrier,

we so desperately erect.

Just a moment,

in the presence of He,

who stands between us,

and the enemy.

He tears down the walls,

of each soul’s Jericho,

softens the hardest heart,

repels every foe.

It’s not our doing,

not our tepid race,

for nothing is mightier,

than God’s Power and Grace.

We struggle and toil,

fearful and afraid,

hiding in the illusion,

of these walls we have made.

When just a whisper,

from the King of Kings,

delivers us from every evil,

this world can ever bring.
