FOR ALL MY DAYS

I am humbled and grateful when I consider the sacrifice that Christ made for me. But, is that enough? Is accepting Jesus as my Savior all I’m called to do?

I wrote this poem early Easter morning. The words appeared as I was waking up, so, as I’m prone to do, I grabbed my phone and opened my note app to capture them. Later, over coffee, I shared them with my husband.

The words moved him. He was also inspired to ask: Do you believe your life belongs to Christ? Of course, I said yes. To which he replied, now what?

As we spoke, I realized that he was asking those questions for himself not just for my benefit, because he struggles with accepting Christ and living for Christ, just as we all do.

Accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is the easy part.

Salvation is not something we can buy or earn with our good deeds. There’s nothing we have to do to earn this gift. It is freely given. Salvation costs us nothing.

It cost Christ everything. Jesus paid the price for our salvation with His blood.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Ephesians | 2:8

The moment we accept Christ into our hearts we are saved. But, is that the end of the journey? Do we stop there?

Christ answered those questions for us too.

The Sermon on the Mount was a revelation through Christ to live wholeheartedly for God through faith. In this one sermon, Jesus gave us the map to everlasting life.

Accepting Christ means living for Him, following His teachings, and relying on Him to guide our steps. That’s not always easy. But, it’s the next step. The one we’re called to take once we have received the gift of salvation.

These were my thoughts this Easter as I attended service and spent time with my family. I am so grateful for all that God has done for me. For the gift of His Son. For the salvation Christ earned on my behalf. When I think about it like that, it becomes very personal. And my desire to truly live my life for Christ becomes stronger.

For all My Days

Eyes that see.

Ears that hear.

A heart that longs for You.

This I pray,

For all my days.

My life belongs to You.

You lifted me,

from darkest night.

Reached out Your hand,

showed me the light.

You washed me clean,

shed Your own blood,

that I might live,

no greater love.

Hands that serve.

Feet that move.

And faith that conquers all.

This I pray.

For all my days.

My life belongs to you.

You carried me,

through every storm.

Sheltered me in,

Your loving arms.

You sacrificed,

Your all for me,

that I might know,

Your lasting peace.

Willing soul.

Strength that grows.

And hope that never dies.

This I pray.

For all my days.

My life belongs to you.

You conquered death.

With Your last breath.

Bled and died for me.

Promise fulfilled.

That I might live.

No greater love

is there than this.

Your glory shines.

Spirit divine.

You never turn away.

You are God.

For all my days.

My life belongs to you.
