Where would we be now if not for the brave among us, willing to give their last full measure to a cause much greater than themselves?

Sacrifice, such a simple word. Just three syllables, but they demand so much of us. More than our selfish desires. More than our fears. More than our very lives. To sacrifice means to place another’s happiness, another’s existence before our own. To fight for a cause greater than ourselves. To give beyond giving, to the last full measure, until the task is complete. To the brave, the willing, the ones who answered the call and sacrificed it all, thank you seems an insufficient phrase.

Where would we be now if not for the generations who came before us? The brave among them, willing to give their last full measure of devotion to a cause much greater than themselves? We owe them a debt of gratitude we can never repay. Thank you for your sacrifice. We will never forget.
