I write words of faith and affirmation daily. Most of the time, I write the words as though I am speaking to my daughters, passing on the wisdom and grace God has so generously given to me. Sharing the words has become as much a part of my recovery journey as my faith.
They are my testament to the healing power of forgiveness and love I have received and continue to receive through Jesus Christ.

Maybe all these winding roads
are placed in front of us,
so we don’t get too comfortable.
Maybe they’re needed to remind us
that we’re stronger than we think.
That it’s ok to ask for help.
Maybe they’re here to lead us
in the direction of humility.
To strengthen our faith.
And to remind us that grace exists,
and that mercy is truly necessary.
Maybe all these winding roads
are the ones meant to guide us.
So that when we do finally reach the end,
we enter eternity with grateful hearts,
humble spirits, and souls filled with peace.

Defeat is not a natural state.
It’s meant to encourage growth.
To inspire movement.
To restore faith.
It’s not a place to stay,
but a point to move on from.
Yet, so often,
we allow defeat to define us,
giving it power it was never meant to have.
Wisdom comes from
accepting our losses when they come,
and learning from them.
Wallowing in defeat
is an exercise in futility,
because in truth, my child,
defeat lingers for only as long
as we accept we’ve been defeated.

In times of trouble, there is but one shelter from the storm.
In times of joy, there is but one source from which all goodness flows.
There is a constant in this ever-changing world.
A place of unconditional love, unrelenting mercy, and unfathomable grace.
FAITH is hope in things to come and conviction in things unseen.
And so,
In FAITH I bend.
In FAITH I cry.
In FAITH I heal.
In FAITH I rise.
