I AM WITH YOU THROUGH IT ALL

Life tests us. It challenges our faith and diminishes our strength. But, nothing is impossible with God. When all else fails, His grace never does. He is with us through it all.

I always find inspiration in Scripture. Inspiration to write a post or a poem or to simply reflect. Sometimes, the words are comforting and just what I need to hear. Other times, there’s a lesson I need to learn, a tap on my shoulder telling me I’ve taken my eyes off God and I need to refocus. As someone who has been in recovery for the past seven years, Scripture reminds me that God will never leave me — He is with me through it all.

Without God, I would’ve never won my battle with addiction.

On March 22, I’ll celebrate seven years. Seven years of freedom and healing. Of all the lessons I’ve learned in that time there’s one that stands out. One that speaks louder than all the others — Addiction is a battle we cannot win without God.

Without God, I would’ve never known the freedom and healing that come with surrender or the peace that forgiveness brings. The life I live now, so different from the darkness of yesterday, is by His strength, through His grace, and because of His love for me.

He loves us all. His grace and mercy are freely given. Nothing can separate us from Him. He finds us in the darkness, reaches for us in the storm, and meets us in our weakness. He shields us through every test. Celebrates every victory with us. Gives us the courage and the will to succeed.

But, to walk fully in His grace you have to step out in faith. You have to put your trust in Him. You have to let go of the reigns and give Him complete control over your life, your addiction, your suffering, your past and present, your future, and your healing. Don’t be afraid, He’s right there. Just reach out, He’ll take your hand, and He’ll never let go. He’ll walk through it all with you, for He has promised, “Come to Me and I will give you rest,” Matthew 11:28.

I AM WITH YOU THROUGH IT ALL

In the darkness of the night,

when the shadows come to call,

FEAR NOT, 

FOR I AM WITH YOU THROUGH IT ALL.

In your struggles and your pain,

in your battles big and small,

HAVE FAITH, 

FOR I AM WITH YOU THROUGH IT ALL.

In your grief and in your sorrow,

be still and listen for my call,

HAVE HOPE, 

FOR I AM WITH YOU THROUGH IT ALL.

In every storm you face,

when fear and doubt construct a wall,

SEEK ME, 

FOR I AM WITH YOU THROUGH IT ALL.

From your first breath to your last,

when you rise and when you fall,

CLING TO ME, 

FOR I AM WITH YOU THROUGH IT ALL.

There is nothing you will face,

no trial I cannot overcome,

TRUST IN ME,

FOR I AM WITH YOU THROUGH IT ALL.

I will never leave you,

My Spirit lives inside your soul,

My love a sacred promise,

that I am with you through it all.

Be not afraid,

I am your shield through every test.

Come follow Me,

and I will give you rest.
