I’m JN Fenwick. Wife, mom, but more importantly, a recovering alcoholic with a grateful heart.

For years, I struggled, not just with alcohol, but with an eating disorder and the burdens of guilt and shame. On March 22, 2018, I surrendered my life to Christ. I was 51. God did not forsake me. He welcomed me, as undeserving as I am. He did not see my brokenness. Instead, He saw my potential. My Recovery Journey is one of Faith. From the ashes of my failures, God built a fire in me. A fire that guides each step I take. My journey is yours. My healing can be yours, too.
I’m a former American history teacher who shares my love of history in a blog. I’m an aspiring poet, an avid reader, and a lover of words. I’ve been writing and journaling since I was a young girl. I write and blog under the moniker ‘mothjournal14’.
My first book, Four Weeks, is a collection of poetry and journal entries chronicling my battle with and recovery from an eating disorder and addiction. In the Eye of the Storm and its sequel, In the Aftermath of the Storm, tell the story of the devastation Hurricane Michael brought to my home in the Florida Panhandle in October 2018 through the poetry, stories, art, and images of survivors. I served as both the editor and contributor for the project. All proceeds from both books were donated to recovery efforts in the affected areas.
My Recovery Journal Blog is where I share the most important journey of my life and the powerful healing and peace God has filled me with. Through my poetry, I share my faith and hope, but also my grief, healing, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Four Weeks is an inspirational story about how God helps us through our struggles when we surrender all to Him.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read!
It pulls at the heartstrings to hear from other people who survived the storm and to hear their stories of strength and moving forward after such devastation.
5.0 out of 5 stars A very good read.
I couldn’t read either of these books fast enough! I lived through Michael and it was very hard to read these stories at times. I cried and smiled. These will be going into my cedar chest for my grandson.
5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should order these two books.
