The Poetry of Michael

On October 10, 2018, Hurricane Michael slammed in to my home in the Panhandle of Florida, a strong Category 4 storm with winds in excess of 155-mph and a storm surge exceeding 16-ft. There was no preparing for the terrifying events we’d experience. No way to fully comprehend the destruction surrounding us in the aftermath. Like always, I turned to writing to catalogue the emotions, the fear, and the hope we were all feeling. Once the winds died down, and the immediate aftermath began to settle, hope was often all we had left to us. And faith, that somehow, in the midst of all the destruction, we’d find our way again. This is The Poetry of Michael.
