In the Eye of the Storm

On October 10, 2018, Hurricane Michael barreled through the Florida Panhandle as a strong Category 5, storm. In the Eye of the Storm: Stories of Survival and Hope from the Florida Panhandle is a collection of inspiring stories from people who rode out the storm, were first on the scene in the aftermath, who weathered those first difficult weeks after Michael slammed into the area and those who came from far and wide to assist the devastated region.

It’s the residents, the ones who awoke the following morning to a world inexplicably altered, that are at the heart of these stories. The survivors. The broken. The devastated. It’s their voices that tell the story best. These are the stories of the brave, the hopeful, and the determined as much as they are of the suffering and the brokenhearted. Their faith, perseverance in the face of such daunting circumstances, and their relentless determination to prevail are inspiring and so worthy of recognition. In the Eye of the Storm honors the resilience and beauty of the people who call the Northwest Florida Panhandle home.

A very good read. It pulls at the heart strings to hear from other people that survived the storm and to hear their stories of strength and moving forward after such a major devastation in this area. Anybody that doesn’t know or isn’t struggling to come back from this storm really needs to read this.

A must read by all to feel our devastation and destruction. Thank you Jennifer.

Stories of Hope! Great Read! “Eye Of The Storm” was my second book of Jennifer N. Fenwick’s, that I read and she didn’t let me down with her eloquent writing of such emotional topics. The book is filled with life story accounts of the survivors of the storm, including the author’s and riveting poetry. The synopsis boils down to the importance of what matters in life – – love and community, two things that can we can give to one another in and out of a storm. Great read!!
