FEARLESS

Again and again, the Bible instructs us to stand firm in our faith. Again and again, we falter. Not because we have to, but because we are weak. And in our weakness we give into doubt and allow fear to overwhelm us. It is only through FAITH that we become fearless.

FEARLESS. That’s what FAITH is.

The story of Moses is one of human doubt but also one of Godly faith. “Who am I,” Moses asked, “That I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt,” Exodus | 3:11?

God’s reassurance is powerful. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy | 31:6.

God is our Provider. As He did for Moses, He provides us strength in our weakness and courage in our doubt. As He asked of Moses, He asks us to trust in Him in all things. And like Moses, it is only through FAITH that we become fearless.

Faith assures us that God is with us and that through Him we can move mountains.

FEARLESS. That’s what FAITH calls us to be.

It’s easy to focus on the world. It is tangible. Something we can see, touch, and experience readily. But scripture warns us that we cannot rely on the world to lead us in the way of truth, Romans| 12:2.

The only way to live a victorious life is to don the armor of truth and to dwell in the spirit. The world cannot provide us strength and courage. Only God can do that. That is His promise.

Answering the call to faith means shedding the world and surrendering to the presence, the spirit of God within us. Faith is our shield against the evils of this world. It is our reassurance that God is present in every situation.

It is only through FAITH that we become fearless.

FEARLESS. With FAITH that’s what we become.

What does it mean to be fearless? The world tells us that to be fearless is to be free from fear or brave. It doesn’t tell us how to accomplish that.

Scripture does. “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears,” Psalm | 34:4.

Seeking God is the key to becoming fearless. We must seek Him with all our hearts, just as David did.

It’s not enough to simply believe in God. We must actively seek Him, just as He sought us. Long before we ever existed, God’s plan for our salvation was in the works. In Jesus, God’s plan became man. Through Jesus, our salvation was purchased. What then do we have to fear from this world?

When we were helpless, lost in the grip of sin and fear, God found us. Through Christ, He redeemed us. We are saved by grace, through faith. Through Christ’s living sacrifice, we are clothed in righteousness and granted a spirit of discipline and compassion.

As Christians, we are called to seek God earnestly, with our entire beings. We are called to walk by faith. To cast our cares upon God and to relinquish our burdens to His mercy. We are called to trust in Him in all things.

For just as He knows every hair on our heads and the number of our days, He reassures us that it is only through FAITH in HIM that we become fearless.

Dear Lord, I am grateful for Your tender mercies. For the gift or Your Son and Your faithfulness through the ages. Instill in me a spirit of humility and trust. Grant me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart willing to follow. Increase my Faith in You and fortify my desire to seek You above all things. For it is only through You, with You, and in You that I am fearless. Amen.
