Holy Spirit

From my book, Four Weeks: A Journey From Darkness. The power and presence of the Holy Spirit is transformative. Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”  I have experienced the Holy Spirit moving through me. That is the only way I can describe the presence of peace within my soul when the world outside is tossing and turning around me. John 16:13 tells us,  “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” The power of the Holy Spirit is the power of God. When we are filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit we exist in the very presence and shelter of God.

Holy Spirit fill my soul.

Walk with me down this broken road.

Where my fear is great,

And my tears overflow.

Shelter me from this blinding storm.

Fill my being so that my soul is reborn,

In the fire of your cleansing rain,

So, there’s no more fear and no more shame.

 Holy Spirit fill my soul.

Walk with me down this broken road.

Heal my scars each and every one,

With the blinding light of the rising Son.

Consumed by love and abiding grace,

Shine your power upon my face.

So that my voice your word proclaims,

In this moment and all my days.

 Holy Spirit fill my soul.

So, my walk with you is my forever goal.

So, each step I take brings me closer still,

To your endless peace and your mighty will.

Humble me so that all my life,

I walk with you in your precious light.
